2014 is well an truly here. Another year as flown by, and what a year it has been! I sent a bit of cryptic New Years Eve tweet (blame the champagne) saying:
"After couple of years of being in a bad place in my life, 2013 was the year I turned my life around. I wish everyone the same & a positive 2014"
It's true, I've had some pretty low points over the last few years, however 2013 really was the year that my life changed forever. I fully believe now that I have reached that point in my life where I am at ease with myself and I very happy in life. So much has happened and I can not believe where I am today. I am utterly grateful for every opportunity that I have been given or earned.
I wanted to do a little reflection post to remind me of how amazing 2013 was and to thank my lucky stars for everything this year.
Goodbye 2013- you were my best year!
My biggest achievement of course has to be graduating from University, securing the most amazing job in The City and moving to London. My career means everything to me, and so to finally see all the stress, tears and utter breakdowns pay off, makes me so proud. There was a point where I thought was it ever going to happen? Was I going to throw it away? But I did it, I got there, and so anyone who is still searching for their dream job after university, keep going, I promise you, you can get there.
Of course 2013 was also my first full year of blogging. I can not believe what my blog has led me to do. I have been very lucky to have got to go to some amazing events, and do some crazy things because of my blog. Every single person who reads my blog is amazing. I'm just a nobody in this big bad world, but to think there are some people who actually like what I have to say (or ramble on about) is so touching and I can not thank you enough. I know I'll never be some crazy big blogger, but then all I want is to share with you my finds and adventures, and hope they inspire and entertain.
On a personal note, 2013 was definitely year I gained my appetite, especially since moving to London. It does seem (and reflect on the scales) like I'm trying to eat my way through London, but with such flavours and delights out there, I'm just too tempted to stop. Food is my passion, I appreciate the craftsmanship and talent that goes into cooking, and so too all those who have fed me over the year, I salute you!
I've always adored fashion, but 2013 was the year I really got to develop it through my blog. Blogging about fashion has led me to try to be more daring, and take more risks. My style has changed over time, but that's a good thing, as change is good. I've been very lucky in 2013 as I've got to work with some seriously great brands including Matalan, French Connection, Warehouse, Barratts and many more. It's been such a dream come to true, fashion wise.
Last year also led me to make some tough decisions with friends. After a few rocky years, I realised that friends are so important in life. So I said goodbye to some who didn't bring positive vibes into my life, but then made sure I committed myself to those who had been there for me. Moving away is hard, as distance does take its toll, but if they are worth it (which mine are) then you'll makeit work.
However I am also extremely lucky to have made 2 new and very special friends since moving; Caroline and Helen. I met both of these through blogging, and thought at first we were just going for a drink and lunch respectively and that was it, we'd go our seperate ways. Well I could not be more wrong. These 2 are now 2 of my bestest friends and I can not wait for 2014 adventures with them!
2013 was by far the year that changed my life. I'll never forget the adventures I had, but here to 2014, hopefully and even better year!
Cheers!
